Creative Design & Website Design with custom CMS and ShadoMX Implementation

Henry Davis York (HDY) is one of the oldest and most successful commercial law firms in Australia, working with the corporate sector, government & government-related organisations and the financial services industry.

HDY approached Gruden to redesign their website as they felt their existing website did not provide a clear differentiator against other legal firms. They required a website that would provide clear information about themselves and the services they offer, as well as increase the interactivity between themselves and prospective and current clients.

Gruden designed the site with a clear, intuitive navigation and the use of their corporate photography throughout to keep the website consistent with their offline material. The website was developed using HTML templates and incorporating a Gruden-designed, customised Content Management System (CMS). The CMS gives HDY the power to control the content on the website and keep it fresh and current, ensuring that the image presented online is always up-to-date.

Following the development of the website, Gruden began work on their intranet. This was developed as an internal communication tool, echoing the website's design. The Intranet allows the staff at HDY a place to visit daily to get information on news and events, with a scrolling news feed from the ABC implemented, showing current headlines and weather to encourage staff to use the intranet as their homepage. It also functions as a centralised information repository for storing documentation such as the company's directories, legal resources, administration-related information as well as many other useful policies and procedures.

Gruden developed the intranet on ShadoCMS, a powerful Content Management System that would allow for the creation of custom features HDY required, such as LDAP integration of its existing staff directory for login management around secure areas of the Intranet. It also gave HDY the benefit of inbuilt workflows around content, meaning people representing different areas of the company could be responsible for managing their own area-specific content, taking the strain off the IT department to manage all content.

The Intranet was launched in July 2006 and the feedback has been positive, with staff at HDY increasingly using the Intranet on a daily basis. The Intranet's success has been due to the successful integration of the social aspects / treatment as well as the inclusion of business specific tools and information.
